Christmas gifts

Well, we are only 10 days away from Christmas and I'm still trying to decide what to get my parents for Christmas. They are in their 70's and don't really need anything in particular. I have previously gotten them gift cards since I live out of state and won't see them for Christmas. Since they don't really need anything, I am up in the air about gift cards. I have been searching for something they might not buy themselves but would be a surprise for them. I have been looking at subscription boxes. I have so far looked at cookies, books, meal and snack subscriptions. I have been leaning toward a dessert subscription since Mom doesn't bake much anymore. I think they might enjoy getting a surprise dessert once per month.
I also checked out book subscriptions. They both like to read but I am somewhat doubtful as to whether they would enjoy the books that might come. We are all avid readers and have read so many books that I'm afraid they might end up getting duplicates or books we have already read. I did see on one of the book subscriptions that you could pick from a list of books monthly but my mom detests the internet and is not very internet savvy so I can't see her getting on and choosing books each month.
I have searched for meal subscriptions and like that idea because Mom has a hard time deciding what to make for meals and planning them out. However, she is a somewhat picky eater and I am afraid she would end up throwing half of the food away which defeats the purpose. Plus, if she isn't feeling well, I am afraid the food might go bad before she gets to it. I like the idea of getting their meals delivered but not sure it's the right choice for them.
The last subscription box I have been looking at are snack subscriptions. These can be somewhat modified for things they like to snack on but it still looks like they might end up with some things they might not like or want. Since I hate wasting I feel like this is similar to the food option and might have more waste than I would like. So, here we are, getting close and I'm still not locked into any good ideas.
Just wondering if any of you have this dilemma and if you have any good suggestions or ideas that you have tried and how they worked out.
Happy shopping out there and hopefully you won't get too stressed as we get closer to the hubbub of the holidays.
